With 33 million passengers in 2016, Berlin is the third largest air hub in Germany. In order to create the capacities required for the future, the new Berlin Brandenburg Airport Willy Brandt is currently being built in Schšnefeld. All air traffic in Germany's capital region will be concentrated in the south-east of Berlin.
