Who are we? Teachers Health is AustraliaÕs only private health insurance fund exclusively for people in the education community and their families. As a not-for-profit organisation, we have been dedicated to caring for the needs of our members for over 60 years and now cover the lives of over 300,000 teachers, administration and support staff and their families nationwide. Originally established in 1954 by the New South Wales Teachers Federation, Teachers HealthÕs membership base now encompasses the broader Australian education community across Australia. We are now the largest industry-based fund in Australia. Teachers Health is also a founding member of Members Own Health Funds Ð a collective of 15 not-for-profit and mutual health funds, representing 19 brands, who share the same belief in putting members and their wellbeing ahead of profits. Our mission: To inspire and support our eligible members to achieve the best possible health outcomes. Created by teachers for teachers, our proud heritage is reflected in a number of significant ways: 1. Created by teachers for teachers over 60 years ago, we now cover over 300,000 around Australia. 3. As a not-for-profit organisation, we give back to the education community through sponsorships, scholarships and health and well-being programs. 4. We are for members, not shareholders and in the last financial year we paid 91 cents in benefits for every dollar received in contributions.
