Previously known as Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union, Unity Bank is a member owned bank that offers a genuine alternative to the major banks. We provide our members with exceptional service and meaningful support for our local communities. We began in 1970 when a group of maritime workers had the vision to form a mutual (member owned) credit union for the benefit of all waterside and seafarer workers and their families. Since then it has expanded to include members in the mining and power industries, their families and the local communities. On 1 March 2017, members overwhelmingly supported to change the name Maritime, Mining & Power Credit Union to Unity Bank. The division organisations also changed their names. Reliance Credit Union became Reliance Bank and Collie Miners Credit Union became Unity Bank. On 2 June 2017, Bankstown City Credit Union became a division of Unity Bank and changed name to Bankstown City Unity Bank.
