The Canadian Hearing Society (CHS), founded in 1940, is the largest non-profit health care and social service provider of services, products, and information that: remove barriers to communication, advance hearing health, and promote equity for people who are culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing. Our vision statement depicts a society where all people are respected; have full access to communication; and are able to participate without social, economic, or emotional barriers. CHS offers over 17 programs and services, in a fully accessible and supportive environment throughout 28 offices in Ontario. CHS employs over 450 people who are experienced in meeting the unique communication needs of people who are culturally Deaf, oral deaf, deafened and hard of hearing. CHS provides a one-stop centre where clients can access a range of complementary programs under the same roof. Our programs and services fall into the following broad categories: _Counselling Services - Mental Health & Addictions Counselling; court diversion; general support services; outreach and counselling to older adults and newcomers to Canada. _Accessibility Services _ sign language interpreting; communication assistive real-time translation (CART); captioning; accessibility consulting; communication devices, both commercial and personal; translation services English-ASL and French-LSQ. _Education - sign language instruction (ASL & LSQ); literacy; and information and public awareness. _Employment Services - job search assistance; employment supports for employers, employees and job seekers; job development. _Hearing Healthcare _ hearing testing; hearing aid sales; aural rehabilitation; speech-language pathology; hearing help classes.
